From Uncertainty to Confidence: How A Group of Friends Found Their Path with The T.I.M.E. Community

Esther, Julius, Lade, Aisha, and I (Abdul) have always moved together since we got admitted into school, some years back. It's our way to hangout on a few occasions to think about what the future holds for us. One day, as we took a walk to our usual hangout spot, we watched as the campus came alive with different students rushing from one class to another.

It was obvious the weight of the impending graduation was starting to sink in as we barely spoke a word to each other. Soon, we would be stepping out of the familiar university world and into the unknown. But there was one problem—We had no idea what was coming next.

The thought of life after graduation was enough to make our stomachs churn. While some seemed to have their futures mapped out and securing lucrative job offers, others had internships lined up, but we felt we were standing on the edge of a vast abyss, unsure of which direction to take.

Our greatest fear? Not knowing what career paths to pursue, or what skills to even focus on. We had always been passionate about personal development, but we didn’t know how to translate that passion into a real, marketable career. And every time we tried to imagine ourselves in professional settings, all we could see were blur of confusion. But life has a funny way of surprising you when you least expect it, right?

That evening, as we hung out together, we scrolled through Instagram mindlessly, and at about the same instance, something caught our eyes—a flyer with bold letters that read, The T.I.M.E. Community: Empowering Students for the Future of Work. What was this about? we asked each other, intrigued...what a coincidence, we thought!

Then we learned it was an acronym for Tools, for Innovative Mastery, and Empowerment. The T.I.M.E community promised to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional success. The flyer detailed how the program aimed to:

  • Prepare students and youths for the demands of the future of work.
  • Equip them with practical skills like writing winning CVs, Gaining work experience while on campus, proposal and grant writing tips, professional communication, and career development.
  • Create a community where students could engage with industry leaders and peers to enhance their career prospects.

A spark of hope ignited within us all. Could this be the guide we had been searching for all along? Without wasting a second, we agreed to sign up though skeptical at first—after all, how many programs promised “career transformation” but didn’t deliver? But this felt different. This was something tangible, something we hoped we could actually use.

Once we joined The T.I.M.E. community, our uncertainties began to fade. The program wasn’t just about learning—it was about transforming. We could now be a part of a network of passionate students, professionals, and mentors on the same journey.

Through engaging webinars, one-on-one mentorship, and hands-on workshops, We became optimistic about the practical skills that could set us apart in the competitive job market. Now we can learn how to craft winning CVs, write compelling proposals and grant applications, and communicate professionally in any setting.

These proposed bi-monthly webinars have promised to deliver the value that will provide valuable work experience while still on campus, and position us ahead of our peers. Learning how to identify career opportunities, network effectively, and develop a strategic career plan all looked highly promising. But the best part? To become equipped with step-by-step guidance to turn our goals into reality, giving the clarity and confidence we have always desired.

As graduation day gets closer, our anxiety has shifted from fear to excitement. No longer are we overwhelmed by the future or the weight of uncertainty, but ready to step into the world with the tools to succeed, all thanks to The T.I.M.E. Community powered by Sudo Africa and Safe Haven MFB.

If you're a student facing the same fears we once had, don’t wait for the future to find you. Seek out the resources, communities, and opportunities that will empower you to thrive in the world of work, and remember, it’s T.I.M.E to get work-ready for TOMORROW!
