Humans Of Sudo: Employee Highlight- Kelechi Clementina Nwulu
Some people find their happy place in a quiet office. Others find it in a perfectly arranged content calendar. But Kelechi Clementina Nwulu?
Some people find their happy place in a quiet office. Others find it in a perfectly arranged content calendar. But Kelechi Clementina Nwulu? Just give her good people, teamwork, and, most importantly, a place to catch a quick nap at work.
As a Social Media Manager at Sudo Africa, Kelechi helps bring the brand to life online through content creation, captions, and everything that goes into keeping a brand visible. But behind the social media posts and perfectly arranged captions is a woman with a surprising talent for classical singing, a dream of owning a big supermarket, and a career journey that started with job hunting and a little help from her then-boyfriend, (now husband).
Today, we get to know the woman behind Sudo’s social media presence: her journey into digital marketing, what she loves about working at Sudo, the misconceptions about her job, and why her future might just involve trading social media analytics for supermarket inventory.
What’s your name, and what do you do at Sudo Africa?
“My name is Kelechi Clementina Nwulu, and I’m a Social Media Manager at Sudo Africa.”
Simple introduction, but as we’re about to discover, there’s a lot more to Kelechi than what you see on your timeline.
Kelechi, what’s your favorite thing about working at Sudo?
“The people! I love the togetherness and the teamwork.”
For Kelechi, it’s not just about showing up to work and getting things done. It’s also about the people you get to do it with.
And apparently, Sudo has managed to get that part right. We love to see it!
What’s one thing about Sudo that surprised you when you first joined and made you think, ‘Yep, I actually like it here’?
“When I came, I saw a sleeping area, and you can actually take a nap. I was like, ‘Wow, I actually like it here!’ Lol.”
PLEASE!
Some people get excited about fancy offices, free snacks, or company outings. Kelechi saw a place where she could take a nap and immediately knew this was it for her.
And honestly, can we blame her? Sometimes, all you need to know that a company understands you is the discovery that you don’t have to fight sleep with your bare hands during the workday.
If you had to describe Sudo to someone who has never heard of it, without using any corporate words, what would you say?
“Sudo issues cards.”
No long grammar. No big-big English. Just cards.
What’s one thing you’ve learned from working at Sudo that has stayed with you?
“Being proactive. I’ve learned to take initiative, think ahead, and get things moving instead of waiting for someone to tell me what to do..”
In the workplace, waiting until someone tells you what to do can mean missing opportunities to make a difference.
And in social media, where trends can come and go before you’ve even finished writing your caption, that quality definitely comes in handy!
What’s something people at Sudo probably don’t know about you?
“They don’t know that I’m a classical chorister. Like, I actually sing classical songs in a choir.”
WAIT. WHAT?
So, while we’re busy seeing Kelechi create content, write captions, and manage social media, there’s a whole classical singer living among us?
This is exactly why you can never assume you know everything about your colleagues. Somebody in your office might be one unexpected talent away from shocking the entire team!
Kelechi, we need to know if we should be expecting a surprise performance at the next Sudo event. Just asking.
If you weren’t a Social Media Manager, what do you think you’d be doing?
“I would own a big supermarket because I’ve always wanted to do business. That’s still in view, though.”
Kelechi has always had an interest in business, and the dream of owning a big supermarket is still very much alive.
How did you even get into social media management in the first place?
“After NYSC back in 2020, I didn’t know what to do. I was literally just job hunting, and my husband, who was my boyfriend then, introduced me to digital marketing. I took some courses, got certified, and the rest is history.”
Sometimes, your career journey doesn’t begin with a five-year plan, a clear vision, or a childhood dream you’ve been chasing since you were ten.
Sometimes, you finish NYSC, start looking for jobs, and genuinely have no idea what your next move should be.
And sometimes, the person you’re dating introduces you to something that changes the direction of your career.
For Kelechi, that introduction to digital marketing opened a new door. She took courses, got certified, and gradually found her way into social media management.
And look at where that decision has brought her!
Shoutout to her husband for the introduction. From boyfriend to husband, and apparently, career plug too. We love a supportive partner!
To be honest, what’s one thing people think Social Media Managers do all day that is completely wrong?
“They think we just sit and press our phones. They don’t know how much goes into creating content, captions, posting, and all.”
Ah, the classic “You’re always on your phone” accusation!
To someone watching from the outside, social media management might look like scrolling through Instagram, pressing a few buttons, posting a picture, and going home.
But behind that one post you scrolled past in three seconds are ideas, planning, content creation, editing, captions, scheduling, posting, and all the little details people rarely think about.
And let's not even start on the pressure to make content that people will actually stop scrolling to watch and the fact you literally have to beg your colleague to participate in this content!
So, the next time you see a Social Media Manager on their phone, please don't be too quick to judge. They might be working. Or they might be checking a trend that could save the brand's next content shoot.
What’s one thing you’re really proud of that you’ve achieved so far?
“Generally, I’m just proud of everything, the businesses and brands I’ve worked with and helped boost their visibility online. I still get messages from them about how good everything is going. I’m really proud of that.”
And honestly, this is something worth celebrating.
For Kelechi, the achievement isn't just about the number of posts published or the accounts managed. It's about the impact of her work and knowing that the brands she has worked with are still experiencing positive results.
If you could give your younger self one piece of career advice, what would it be?
“Be audacious. Don't be shy. If you know something, say it. Don't hide behind the curtain.”
Now, this is a message!
Sometimes, the biggest thing standing between you and an opportunity isn't a lack of skill. It's the fear of speaking up, sharing your ideas, or putting yourself forward when the moment calls for it.
Finally, if Kelechi's life right now had a caption, what would it be?
“Omoooo, lol.”
We asked for a caption, and Kelechi gave us a whole mood.
No long explanation. No motivational quote. No attempt to make everything sound deep. Just “Omoooo, lol.”
And sometimes, that really is the best way to describe life. You're working, learning, figuring things out, chasing your goals, and somehow still finding reasons to laugh along the way.
Honestly, we might need to start using this as the official caption for adulthood.
Kelechi isn't just the Social Media Manager helping Sudo show up online. She's a team player who values the people around her, a classical chorister with a hidden talent, a marketer proud of the brands she's helped grow, and a future supermarket owner who hasn't abandoned the dream.
From discovering digital marketing after NYSC to building a career in social media, her journey is a reminder that sometimes, the opportunities that shape us come from unexpected places, and the dreams we have today don't have to be the only dreams we pursue tomorrow.
And if there's one thing we're taking away from Kelechi, it's this: be proactive, be audacious, and don't hide behind the curtain.
